Yes, of course you can. We even encourage our students to bring their own boards provided those boards are appropriate for their skill level.

Yes, we rent out wetsuits and surfboards separately from a surf lesson. For example, parents sometimes like to rent a board and wetsuit while their kids are taking a lesson, or students want to rent the wetsuit they were wearing so they can continue to enjoy the ocean after their lesson. Grandview has a port-o-potty in the parking lot and a shower at the stairs.

Alongside other surf schools, we are located North of Moonlight Beach. Please park at Moonlight Beach Parking Lot, walk to the beach and head North until you see our light-blue Buenas Olas tent and boards. The walk from the Parking Lot to our Location takes about 7 minutes. Please plan to arrive accordingly and feel free to give us a call if you have any questions on how to find us.

No, but you must be comfortable and confident in the water. Swim instruction is part of surf lessons for beginners and in-water practice is taking place in shallow water. All of our instructors are CPR certified and trained to responsibly care for our students.

Once our students reach a certain skill level in surfing, we take them out to the outside to learn how to catch waves in the line up.

We provide a full refund if the booking is cancelled at least 48h before the start of the lesson. We will refund 50% of the full price if cancelled prior to the morning of the lesson. Any cancellation after that can not be refunded.

Safety is our top priority. In the case of severe weather conditions, we may adjust activities, reschedule sessions, or provide alternative beach-related fun. Luckily, Southern California summers rarely disappoint.

Camp sessions that are cancelled up to 7 days before the starting date, will be entirely refunded. For a cancellation within a week of camp start, you’ll receive a 50% refund. Cancellations 24h prior to the start of the surf camp session can not be refunded.
